 Welcome back after half term, I hope you all had an enjoyable break.  This term we will be continuing with the topic 'Journeys'.

Spellings

Year 2 . .

  

Year 3: -er & -est double consonants and irregular - big, bigger, biggest, fit, fitter, fittest, sad, sadder, saddest, good, better, best, bad, worse, worst.

Year 4: noun / adjective to verb -en &    -ate flat, flatten, sweet, sweeten, tough, toughen, weak, weaken, awake, awaken, alien, alienate, elastic, elasticate, medicine, medicate.

 

 

Don't forget to keep practising your times tables.

 

 

Homework

Homework is set on a Friday and is due the following Wednesday.  If, however, the children bring their completed work in on the Monday they will earn a class point.  Should the work show they have added relevant further information they will earn an extra class point.

 

5/3/10 - Create an acrostic poem based on 'ROSE', or 'RAINBOW', or 'DRAGON'

12/3/10 - see attached document below

 

Reminders

.Thursday 14th January Art Workshop.

Tuesday 19th Year 3 and 4 visiting St Mary's in Abergavenny.  Children will need to bring a packed lunch with them.

Previous homework For Spring Term 2010:

8/01/10 - Make a collage of different vehicles with a brief description of their purpose i.e. lorry - for transporting goods.  Pictures can be cut out from newspapers, magazines, catalogues etc.

Well Done all those who completed their

collage, James Tennant's was particularly  well presented and goes on the 'WOW' Board

15/01/10 - Discuss with parents / guardians the following: which super hero is the best out of, 'Spiderman' & 'The Invisible Man', and say why this is so.  Think about what might make them even better and why..

22/1/10 - How many words can you find that do not have a vowel in them? Year 3 / 4 Here's a challenge for you - can you write a sentence that doesn't have an 'e' in any of the letters, it must be a proper sentence and make sense.

3/2/10 - well done to Ellie Williams and Nia Price for their detailed homework on Henry VIII's wives

29/1/10 Find out the names of Henry VIII's 6 wives.

 

Events

Pictured below is Mrs M.Pead who talked to us about her experiences as a 9 year old during the war.

We were also very pleased to have welcomed Mrs Bailey who was evacuated in the first few days of the war during operation 'Pied Piper'.  She was able to tell us all about the rationing, living conditions, school life, as well as everyday life for an evacuee.
