Hi everyone
I was reminiscing during my lunchbreak and thought I'd do an internet search to see what was going on with Ponthir junior school these days - what a lovely surprise to see a great website up and running!
I was a pupil at the school from September 1984 until July 1991 and have lots of very fond memories - Mrs Slater and Mrs Williams the "dinner ladies", Mr Morgan, Mrs Mason, Ms Bough, Mrs Howell and Mrs Haylins; sewing the panels to go on the big patchwork tapestry in the hall (is it still there?); playing "British Bulldogs" in the playground; making "houses" out of the mown grass in the field; recorder club; searching for the hamster at the back of the kiln after he escaped; and being allowed to look after the tadpoles during school holidays (during which time they hatched into frogs!) .... it all seems so long ago...
I'm now 28, living in Sydney, Australia and working as a finance lawyer for a city law firm - a very long way away from Ponthir but always lovely to think back with such fond memories. And thanks to facebook I'm back in touch with most of my old classmates.
Great to look at the photos and see what's going on back at my old school. Best wishes to you all.
Love, Nicola x

It is a very sad farewell we make as a family to Ponthir Church in Wales school, Ryan moves up to Caerleon Comprehensive in September. We want to say a big thank you to all the staff for their hard work and dedication to the pupils. If you are looking for the right school to send your child, look no further. |

This is a fantastic website. I particularly like the wallpaper prints done by Year 3 and 4. This website is a lovely insight to your school.
